A helpline sort of like this one has a swapshop that I visit regularly. I advertised for an AT power supply and a person emailed me and told me they had one. I have always had very good luck with the swapshop. Anyway they said send me $2 plus $8 shipping. The transaction took place June 2, of last month. The person got the check then called me (which I thought was weired as they had my email, they got my number off of my check) and told me they would rather I send a money order. I told them they could wait till the check cleared before sending the power supply and they still refused so I said send the check back and I will get you a money order. Well I waited 2 weeks and no check. I emailed the person and they said they had been sick. I said ok so I waited 2 more weeks and no check. I emailed again and the seller said it had been raining. So I waited another week and the seller said it was still raining. I then got mad and asked the seller that it was clear they were making excuses, just send me the check back and I will get you a money order. The seller then cursed and I said fine just keep the power supply and I will just get one off Ebay and I told them to tear the check up as I didn't want the power supply as it was going on 2 months and the seller said fine because I still have your check as if they were going to try to cash it. I went to my bank and put a stop on it. Even though it was just $10 I still didn't want them to have it and they wouldn't send me the power supply or my check back. The seller then wrote back and said she was waiting on her SSI check. I then said excuses as all you have to do is put a 37 cent stamp on an envelope and send me the check back. You don't have to have any money. The nerve of some people, but you have to trust someone. I guess just a bad apple in the group.

I recently bought a laptop computer from someone on Tom Carlson's SwapShop who has kinda a bad reputation there. I bought from him anyways, in spite of having read bad reports on him from others he has dealt with. I recieved the laptop, in the condition described, with no problem, although it did take a little longer than I expected it to. I guess you never really can tell about people, tho. (See my up-coming rant in the Auctions forum on this bb).

I'll bet you bought that laptop from Aaron7. I've bought a power supply/sound card/ and memory. The memory took me a month and a half to get but the other stuff I received in less than 2 weeks.

Yeah, well...I didn't want to mention any names, but...
It really is a nice laptop tho, well worth the price I paid for it. It's the bestest, beefiest '486-class laptop I've ever had. Fits well into my collection.

I'm all for mentioning names. It keeps the next potential victims from being taken for a ride ...

Well, since my experience in dealing with him turned out to be a positive one, I didn't wanna damage his reputation anymore than it already has been. Of course, if I got burned, I'd be quick to post a warning for others.

Hm.. damaging reputation by telling that you got what you expected? Is that how feedback normally works; not giving positive feedback to someone who already has lots of negative and vice versa?

I'm against it, cause anyone who stumbles across them, might
recall the name & think their good business. So it gives that
company more sales, more people to rip-off.
