compaq 286

I have a compaq 286 that gives me the following error codes when I boot it up:

301 - KB error
162 - system options not set (run setup) insert diagnostics disk in drive a:

after that it just beeps continually. This also has a hard drive in it but that does not seem to affect anything. I have checked out the keyboard and all its connections and it seems to be fine, nothing frayed, loose, etc. Help me!!

The keyboard error may be from a stuck key or something like that. The connections could be fine but the keyboard itself could be bad.

You will need to boot with a diagnostics disk so you can set the system options before you can boot from the hard drive. Right now the computer doesn't know that exists. Hopefully you have that disk or know where you can get one. I can't help there.

Use the included file TDISK211.ZIP to recreate the 5.25" DSDD disks from the images. There are two MS-DOS disks and a User Programs disk. The TEST file is on the UP disk, as well as cmos setup (which is included in the TEST program). Good luck.
