If anyone has a dialup modem, and would not mind testing my Commodore BBS, the number is 302 654 491five.

I will leave it on for 24 hours starting...NOW! (330 EST 4-7). The BBS shares the line with a fax machine, I am trying to allow for both to continue to share. There was a problem about month ago when I first launched, been busy since then.

If you're successful, leave a message to the syop. If you're not, PM me or just post your results as a reply. It may be that it's not possible for the fax and modem to play nicely.

thanks!

Bill

I guess you need a Commodore to sucessfully dial in? Last time on my AT&T PC 6300, I never did get even a screech from your modem. This time under these conditions:
Packard Bell Legend 2440 with a Pentium 1 75MHz processor
Windows 95 Hyper Terminal:
Autodetect modem speed
Autodetect emulation
before dialing, dial *99(for Vonage, allows quicker data transmission)

The first attempt failed. It rang, I heard a click.
Second attempt was a partial sucess. The squeal I heard was not like a modem, and could have been your fax machine. 1 line of garbled text and being hung up on was as far as I got.
Third attempt gave 3 rings and the same results as the second attempt.

My computer never was able to detect your emulation, but it detects your modem to be able to communicate at 19200 baud. Should I set it to a lower baud rate(instead of auto detect)? Or perhaps to use a specific emulation?

Hey good to see we have others who still support the dial up bbs scene! Glad to know others still in the scene. I am also in the process of finishing my board, but since I haven't had it setup in ages, I need a 'tester' as well...

BBS Line: 201 471 2205 ( I have a fax machine setup on the same line, main reason for the test call, but I have an idea of what needs to be changed if you only get a 'ring' and not a screeetching sound from my modem)

I appreciate all the support!

Thank you all!
