At work, we're currently looking for a spare for the old XT which we use for some specific circuit board tests (guess who gets to use it!!! :D ). I recently made it known that the monitor is starting to go blurry, and we will soon need a replacement. I did a quick fix on it to give it a bit more time.

Anyway, one of the guys brought in a PS/2 Model 25. I turned it on, it does a floppy seek, it beeps, but there's nothing on the screen. I turned the brightness up, and I can see a "border" on the sides of the screen which means it is getting power. It just doesn't seem to be getting any text.

Unfortunately, they don't want me spending a lot of time getting this thing going, so it may end up in the trash heap - in other words, there's a good chance I'll be able to take it home.

Has anybody ever seen this problem?

A border? My 25 never shows anything at the sides of the screens.

Inside there's two cable attached to the motherboard.

A long one, and a short one with a black plug and a ferrite bead. The short one is the video cable, make sure it's not lose..

I already went over the connections, and they seem to be fine. I tried re-inserting them a few times in the chance that the contacts were dirty - nothing.

It also looks like the monitor's been taken apart before. There's screwdriver indents around the groove.
