I still have my first computer bought in the early 80's...the IBM 5150, keyboard and Amdex monochrome monitor...all still stored in their original boxes. The IBM even has a Seagate ST225 harddrive installed. ( I think I put it in later).
Before I send it to the recycling center, I thought I'd ask if it has any value as an antique?
As far as I know everything is in perfect working order and in excellent physical shape (I have not used it for many many years).

There are two versions of the original IBM PC. The "1.0" version has BASIC 1.0 in ROM, a black power supply and a 16-64K motherboard.

Later versions have BASIC 1.1 in ROM, a silver power supply and a 64K-256K motherboard.

The earlier versions are considered more collectable than the latter ones, although both are still valuable.

The boxes make the setup worth even more.

If it's an original "1.0" version in boxes with all of the original docs it should be worth a couple of hundred dollars, at least. Probably more.

If you've managed to keep a copy of DOS 1.0 with the package that'll more than double the value.

On the high end I've seen boxed PC systems (with the original IBM monitor and printer, mind you) go in the $500 range and original copies of DOS 1.0 go north of that.

Regardless, please don't recycle the machine! :)
