Hi all!

I am residing in Germany, and I bought a brand new laptop in flohmarkt: IBM Thinkpad. "560x" is written near the lights, and it has currently no CD drive, no floppy drive, and it asks for driver for a USB disk :)

So I found you guys from Google.... hopefully you will get it correct...

welcome to the forums!

Sorry, I kinda don't understand your post, do you want to get some information about the IBM Thinkpad 560 or what did you mean with "hopefully you will get it correct"?

Welcome to the forums! Sounds like you are in quite the pickle with that drive. Adding a CD drive or floppy may help. If you need to load drivers for it to be able to access a network or recognize a drive, and are desperate to do so, you could get an external 2.5" drive case, USB. That would allow you to connect the drive to a USB computer via the USB port. Load the driver onto the drive, then stick it back into the laptop internally. Load the drivers from there, and boom! You have a machine that can talk to other computers. As for the extra 2.5" external USB case? Buy a 100GB HDD and use it as your backup drive, or for large files between computers.

Does it have a PCMCIA slot?

It has two PCMCIA slots. I also have a LAN card to fit in there, but I don't have many cables. So, I don't really know if it works or not. It also has a Infrared port, but I cannot find any other device with IR too.

You can find PCMCIA drive cards (both mechanical & solid-state) on e*ay pretty cheap. Use another computer to place the s/w onto the PC Card, then transfer to the TP.
