1. A computer
2. 1 5.25 disk drive
3. 1 3.5 disk drive
4. 5.25 diskette
5. 3.5 disk

WIth Windows/Linux, all you need to do is select the files you want copied and copy it over. With DOS, just type:
Copy A:*.* B:
where "A" is your source drive and "B" is your target. You can replace *.* with filename.ext where filename is the name of the file and ext is the 3 charecter extension of that file.

Remember that a 3.5" floppy disk often contains more than a 5.25" floppy disk, unless you compare 720K to 1.2MB, that is.

i'm sorry if i sound like a jerk, but when somebody asks such a trivial simple thing that person should have just spent the same amount of time typing his question into google that spent signing up for an account here and making this thread.

come on, people. the interweb is not that hard.

I'm with you Mike. Sometimes we forget the simple truths that led us into challenging the idea that we couldn't get an old computer functioning without a lot of school training.

That led us to some of the stuff on Alta Vista or Usenet Dejaview. It empowered us and with help from some of the old hackers on BBS or FIDONET, and their scorn when we neglected to do our own research, it also gave us confidence in our own capabilities.

That is something that we should be passing on. Also the respect of hard-won lessons.

Ah, the philosophers can't let a dead thread R.I.P....

Why, in *my* day...; BTW, L, those "old" computers that we wanted to get functioning weren't nearly so old then - it was usually necessity, not a hobby...

I think Ryan's first 5 lines said it all; took the words out of my mouth, virtually speaking.

Sweet! I said something...er...meaningful!

Ya, I hate these sorts of questions. They are way too simple and common sense. But every time I see a really open question, I feel the need to post something obvious, like for first post in this thread....

Best way to ship computers?

In a box!

Although that is a question that has some meaning to it, I just feel the need to post my answer...

Or... he could have been asking how to copy a bootable 3.5" disk to a 5.25" disk... now THAT is not a trivial problem. But, since he provided no details, he gets what he deserves (mocking and ridicule :)

SAVEDSKF followed by LOADDSKF ... /C may help with that one, depending on the respective capacities of the diskettes.
