Still in the shrink wrap. Definitely a rare find.
Wasn't sure if this should go in the gaming section or the auction section.

WOW!!!!!! Verrrrrrry nice, 9 more days to go and it's already at $93, this one'll be interesting to track once the auction has ended .......

Why is this so rare? Wasn't the game fairly popular or was it just not made much for the Apple?

I also find it strange that this is so rare?

My brother has an unopened one of these along with other infocom stuff. It's for the PC though. Perhaps Apple Infocom products were less common?

BTW, it's almost at $103 right now ... not sure if I'd consider it the holy grail of Apple II games, but I could be wrong on this one too. Personally I find Erik's finds of Ultima I and Mystery House to be more "holy grails" than pretty much anything in the realm of Apple II gaming.

Each platform has its own rarities.

The value is in the packaging, period, regardless of platform. The plastic saucer version is very rare and usually sells for a minimum of $200+ when it's in good condition. This and the Suspended mask are always in high demand.

Never would've guessed it would go that high! Shows what I know! ;)

Holy hell!

I must let my brother know. He might want to get that never-opened plastic saucer version out of storage. I wonder if the PC version would fetch a similar price?

Yeah, that's a pretty crazy one. Never heard of the game and as a collector I don't care that much for that packaging so I'm clueless why it's worth over $1000. That does bring up an interesting new aspect of collecting though with collectible software.

I think that's in contrast to most software collectors...In fact, I ONLY purposely go after software if it's boxed. If it's not boxed, I can just as easily create my own copy from a ROM or copy or what-have-you. Often-times, half the fun is in the packaging, particularly the fancier stuff like that from Infocom, SSI, Avalon Hill, Origin, etc.
