Yep, writing this until bed.
Got an XT (ibm 5160) Today at a Junk sale for $8 (surprisingly, with keyboard in packaging and box, and orig. IBM MGA Moniter) was wondering on getting an EGA card in it with good results (i.e, as if it was made to do ega.) Any suggestions?
(sorry if it sounds like engrish, wrote it late last night.)

Score! You can use an EGA card to drive the 5151 (monochrome) display (only the card was called "MDA": monochrome Display Adaptor). I recently bought three true blue EGA cards on eBay, and the seller had more. Check, he might still have some. He was offering them with "buy it now".
You can get a copy of The Norton Utilities and change the interleave on the fixed disk so that it reads and writes faster. Or you could just leave well enough alone. Who knows, perhaps IBM had a good reason for slowing it down.
You can get a "Guide To Operations" that will tell you things like switch settings that you will need in order to change the amount of memory. It might already be maxed out at 640k - you can have that much on one type of XT motherboard. Try to get a GTO manual
with the disk. You can use that to test the system, and the manual will tell you what the codes mean.
Enjoy :)

All I know is that when the computer boots up, it loads up to 512kb, so I'm assuming I'll need some additional memory. otherwise, the whole thing works great, worth the money, and not in too bad of condition (The owner said his business gave it to him when they where getting rid of their computers, and he kept it in the very garage I got it out of). I own an EGA moniter, but am hoping to get a true IBM EGA one soon. and whats the link to those EGA cards, can you tell me? (I would've sworn I had corrected the spelling of MDA, sorry.)
