...and tell him to stop trashing Commodores! The thread explains it all, and I don't have room for much more C= stuff.

I'm going to move some of it for him but according to him, there's to much for just me to handle! If nothing else, PM me and I'll forward them on to show there is demand for C= machines!

I assume the recycling guy had no means of testing the stuff, and perhaps had no power supplies to include? An untested, loose C64 for $10 + shipping might be pushing it. A tested OK, loose C64 for $10 + shipping is a good price though. Same goes for floppy drives. There may be other reasons just than clearing out house why those computers ended at the recycling place.

C64s are as common as dirt in the US still.
I picked up a free C64 and 1541 plus Commodore printer saturday from freecycle (last couple of wanted old machines postings seem to only turn up C64s).
The guys said nobody jumped on $9.99 C64s, but he didn't say what he was charging for shipping.
When I got into retro machines in 2001 or so I ended up picking up a C64 +1541c on ebay for very little. Since then I have snagged 3 more systems and traded one for an XBOX.
My C128/1571 was also cheap on ebay years ago, but I think the price has gone up a bit from then.
Atari 800 seem to be more rare and sell better, I have yet to bother looking for any just not that interested in them.

As a matter of fact, if online auctions are anything to go by, Atari is cheaper than Commodore over here. Last weekend Zeela on this forum had a loose Atari 130XE with tape recorder and one cartridge game. He got about $17,50 + shipping. A loose C64 with a tape recorder, a joystick and a few tape games tends to go for at least $25 + shipping in Sweden. Anything less than $15 would be some sort of a bargain, but of course the stuff needs to have been verified OK and be complete with power supply, preferrably even RF cable.
