Just opened my old 128 to show my kids. Original boxes with external hard drive and printer. Had some problem with the disk loading, but got past that. System disk read fine and worked well. Put in MacPaint and the timer just kept going. Ejected the disk and the sad mac came up with error code of 04200.

Does anyone know how serious this is? Fixable? Would love to have up and running.

Thanks in advance.

I'll get my mac repair books out of storage tomorrow and see that that means. I have the Larry Pina set, which cover pretty much everything, afaik.

You might find these links helpful in decoding the sad mac error:

Looks to me like an error message telling you one of the RAM chips has failed the Mod3 memory test, specifically the one located at F7 on the logicboard.

Although does it happen running any other software, or just MacPaint? Try using a different application, maybe MacWrite and see if it does the same thing.
