Not the most common item, I know, but hopefully someone has one lying around.

Let me know what you've got.

Thanks.

Alternatively, I'd also be interested in an 8-bit Ethernet board, to free up my only 16 bit slot.

Several of the 16 bit VGA cards run in 8 bit slots, as long as there are no components near the end of the 8 bit slot.

I'd be happy to have one of those then, as well.

Hard to find info on these old items, though.

Well, I have some Lava 8-bit VGA cards (and a couple of other brands, IIRC) and I think I have a couple of real NE1000 10B2 cards as well (and some clones).

As you say though, not common and not cheap.

i JUST got a 16-bit from Trixter on here, however i'm not sure if he wants to part with my more. he probably would have responded if he did i guess. :P

sorry for hogging that up on ya. for the record, the one he gave me has DIP switch settings to work in an 8-bit slot and i believe a lot of other ones can do the same so you don't necessarily need an 8-bit only card. i have an old 8-bit cirrus logic, but that's in use on my "TURBO-XT" sorry. couldn't play pacman without it.

The ATI VGA Wonder is a good card to use in 8-bit machines.
Here are a couple of scans of the box showing all the different
monitors this card supports. These show up on eBay occasionally
for reasonable prices......

As Mike mentioned, I have one or two more, but I would highly suggest ebay first since I am running out -- and the less I have, the more you pay :-)

I agree with the ATI VGA Wonder assessment. It's a 16-bit board that definitely works in an 8-bit slot and goes up to 1024x768 (interlaced).

In my experience, any 16-bit ISA card from ATI will work in an 8-bit slot without having to set jumpers...even the Mach64. Though, I like using the VGAWonders with both analogue and digital connectors since you can still use a monochrome or EGA display.

Thanks for the info, I guess I'll wait around a little and see what pops up.

Most older 256kb cards will work in an 8-bit ISA slot.

Of the two ISA VGA cards I have (an 1M Tseng ET4000AX card, and a 512K Oak technologies OTIVGA card), I just tested them in an 8-bit ISA bus.

Both work well, however, the Tseng card used SLIGHTLY longer time than usual to clear the screen after the POST compleeted. Windows 3.11 works great on the Tseng too, however, windows is set up to run in VGA 4031 800*600-256 color mode, the Oaktech card couldn't run it.
