Just thought I'd throw in a hello. Like I said in the collections forum, I'm into collecting reference right now (due to space constraints) mostly older programming language books. Right now the "collection" wouldn't fill one shelf of a respectable bookcase, but I'm still poking around.

BTW, I'd play Tempest, or any old vector game over Doom 3 any day. MMPGs are fun and all, but Tempest just sucks you in with so little.

I agree that the vintage games did so much with so little. There is still a lot to say about the modern crop as far as realism and depth, but sometimes they let the tricks overtake the game. . . and then they forget about playability.
