I have a client in Wisconsin that needs a backup Model 4D for a legacy application.

If you have one that you want to sell, PM me and I'll put you in touch with them.

Refresh us, D. Are the double-sided drives the only difference in the 'D', or did it come with a hi-rez board too? (I can't effing remember).

The 4D (the D, contrary to popular opinion, was because it was bundled with Deskmate, not because it had DS drives) had nothing in the way of dazzling graphics but there were probably add-in boards.

The big difference was the redesigned Gate Array board and the DSDD drives.

I have their current 4D in here for repair and they sent along a spare computer (Unfortunately a 4, not a D, that got trashed in shipping anyway) in case I needed parts.

The problem with the D was a broken stepper motor to head band (not easy or worth fixing) on the boot drive and, of course, the drives in the regular 4, being SS were useless.

On top of that, the drive is a TEC FB-503 which you can barely find information on, let alone a unit to buy.

It's a HH drive with a FH bezel that mounts to the casing from the bottom, unlike most which mount from the top.

Fortunately, I found I had a Mitsubishi 4851 that fits and works (although the latch and LED are on the opposite side) that should do well after I align it.

At this point, isn't emulation better?

Just sayin'......

Closest I have is a 4P, which I think are SS.
Last 4 I had, i sold to Barythrin a while back, but it I think was a 4, not a 4D.

Good luck with that!
