I've forgotten what card I need, but it is going in my IBM 5155 so it has to have... some connection inside. Possibly someone here knows what I'm talking about?

I remember having one waaaaay back when - ATI EGA Wonder 800.
That thing would do EGA on a monochrome monitor, which was good because I couldn't afford a color monitor back then :)

I remember many sessions of Gunship and F19, in greyscales on an amber monochrome monitor :)

You actually played gunship in mono? That's impossible, Right? :D

The monitor in the 5155 is CGA, emulated in greyscale (vs MGA). The EGAWonder can output EGA resolution to a CGA monitor, via interlacing, if ya don't mind going blind from the flicker.

Flicker? Is this something I should worry about when I put this in my 5155?

Side note, I haven't posted here in a LONG time... good to see you again Terry. Are many of the other OCH'ers on here?

If ya run it in CGA mode, no prob. Even EGA ain't as bad as some other monitors.

I think that as long as you're running 200 scan lines you're not going to have a problem. The 350 line EGA resolution is the one that will flicker, and that mode is seldom used.

It was wierd - wasn't mono, as in 2 shades - it was 16 "levels"

What was strange, was the screen "wrapped around," to where you could actually SEE the wrap. I suppose EGA is wider than an MGA monitor displays.

No matter - shiznit worked, and I did MANY a mission that way :)

The REAL fun started in the mid 90's when I got my Orchid Righteous 3D card (VooDoo1) and discovered MechWarrior 2!

Switches on-board. IIRC, you can find configuration info on TH99, etc.
