The focus of my collection is DEC PDP type of computers. Most of the collection is PDP-11s, however there is a PDP-8/e and the latest addition is a KL-10.

The KL-10 will require the most work to be operational. However the PDP-8/e and the 11/45 are probably the most functional in the collection.

Here's a link to show it off a bit www.shiresoft.com

As Erik puts it, Welcome to the VC Forum! ;-)

Just out of curiousity, do you have a PDP-1,
with a graphics card & some variation of the
game 'SpaceWar!'?

Sorry, this seems to be the limit with me &
PDPs. Although one of the original BASICs
(if not the one) sounds interesting (in
comparasion with Williams very of BASIC
for the micro).

Cheers.

Hello ggs and Welcome to the VC Forum!

I posted in another thread about your amazing PDP collection so no need to repeat that here!

Enjoy the forums!

BTW CP/M User, the only PDP-1 I've ever seen is at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View where I volunteer. I don't know if it runs or not.

I've only ever seen two PDP-8s (straight 8s). One at the museum and one in Sellam's collection.

From what I can figure, a private collector with a running PDP-1 would be a very impressive situation.

Yes, a private collector running anything other than PDP-8's and PDP-11's is pretty impressive. I think PDP-10's rank up there (just because they're so big not many were rescued). The older PDP's are relatively scarce mainly due to low production numbers and their relatively large size.

My research into the PDP-1 from books &
internet has lead me to believe that there
is more than just one system.

But I cannot always right, I guess.

I suppose a large machine in it's own right
means a certain number of them only exist.

Yes, but as you say it could be unlikely that
someone may have one. Having seen a
picture of a PDP-1 I didn't think it looked all
that large. Obviously to have one running
in your own home might necessary mean
that you've aquired one through the proper
companies which had one.

Cheers.
