My cd drives worked before, but now it suddenly stopped working correctly. When I have any (any!) cd drive connected to the secondary IDE cable, I get a "Fixed Disk 1 error 0220" I can press F1 to load windows, and the computer will work fine, but this is really annoying. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Uh, bent or pin broke off in the secondary IDE MB connector? Or, gasp, IDE controller chip is going south. (Yes friends, all just guesses).

Um, what brand of BIOS/system are you using? 0220 doesn't mean the same thing across all vendors.
Have you mistakenly configured a hard drive where your CD drive now lives? That'll do it.

Kind of sounds like a SMART failure. Have you tested your Hard Drive to make sure its in good running order? Crystal Disc Info can help with that.

I'm guessing your IDE controller is wearing out, or your ATA cable is bad, try another cable and see result and try that cable in another computer to see if same issue

Bad IDE controller. :-( I now have my harddrive as master on the Primary (good) IDE channel, and a CD drive as slave. Works fine.
Thanks!
P.S. I think I corrupted my 0 sector when I plugged in my HD to the bad IDE channel, now it won't boot from it.
