Ok, boys & girls, for your viewing pleasure, a series of pix depicting scenes from ComputerHell. Picture if you will, a 4500-sq.ft. basement with row upon row of shelves, stacked from the floor up, with a 20-year collection of vintage hardware, software, docs, and what-have-you. This link should give you some idea of what my playground is like. If anyone has any questions, please refer to the specific filename(s), and I'll try to answer as best as I can.

http://webpages.charter.net/shent449/comphell/

And yes, everything pictured is for sale.

You do have alot of stuff, I would classify you more of a hoarder then a user/collector (many multiples of the same machines, and some in pieces or missing parts).

Have any Amiga parts?

Actually, it isn't my own personal collection. ComputerHell is what we call the basement of a 20-year computer sales & service center. They have specialized for years in servicing older machines that no one else would touch, so yes, there are a lot of "parts machines" down there. I've just been contracted to help them liquidate the stuff, in anticipation of thier going out of business.
OTOH, I probably could be classified as a hoarder, but I'm also a collector and a user. I play around with my vintage machines on a daily basis. My personal collection is mostly limited to portable machines, because that's all I have the space for. If I had a 4500sq.ft. basement, it would probably look a lot like CompHell though.

There is a very limited amount of Amiga stuff down there, I'll see what I can dig up.

WOW!!!!! That is alot of stuff. If I were in there, I'd be a kid in a candy store. lol I'm interested in the Popular Electronics magazines in picture 0125 and the box that says TRS-80 docs on it. I am also interestedin the blue tape drive in picture 0097. What kind of connection does that tapedrive have on it, what brand is it, and what kind of tape does it take? I love old computer books and magazines, I love to read them just before bed. Let me know what other documents and books they have, because I need some more reading material.
I wish I was there to see all of that neat stuff.
Thanks,
Billz

Hello Billz,

The Popular Electronics have been sold, but we still have many boxes full of TRS-80 docs and software, for Models I, II, III, IV, 12, 16, 16B, 6000, etc. If there is something specific you're looking for, I'll be glad to take a look-around to see if we have it.
The tape drive is still available, and as far as I can tell, it's SCSI. It has a 63-pin, D-shell connector (3 rows of pins) that I have seen on other SCSI peripherals, such as Sun, etc. The name on it is Basic 4, and I don't have the tapes for it, but I'm guessing it takes standard 3/4" nine-track.

Still have the Commie thinggy (it's brown actually, just looks black in the picture). I was told that it was used as a PS terminal (minus the cash drawer) at one time. It's still for sale, make me an offer.

Probably just an encasing so you could put your monitor on top of it? Maybe there is some expansion inside, Terry could tell. I'm using a simple wooden shelf my brother once made, to put the monitor above the computer.

I'm not sure what it's supposed to be. Whoever dropped it off said it had been used as a POS terminal, but I can't swear to it. I don't have the keys, but peeking thru the cracks reveals nothing inside except the wiring & power supplies for the C=64 & drives. I'm thinking it must be a security thing, intended to enclose the disk drives to prevent removal of the floppies by unauthorized personel.

The odd looking commodore case is just that a case/stand no drives inside it was used in schools and libraries to keep people from stealing the c64's by making them large and bulky thats why the lock.

Heh. If Katey's message had been posted in the yearly comp.sys.cbm vs comp.sys.sinclair flame war, some people on the Sinclair side would've said that the Commode 64 was bulky and not worth stealing in the first place.

It reminds me of a web page a few years ago. Someone had emptied an old PC, filled it with concrete (but not visibly) and put outside to see if it would be stolen. I think it was taken away, but only a few hundred feet if even that.

I've never had any qualms about setting computer stuff out to the curb, because very little of what I set out actually goes to the landfill. Most of the time it is picked up by "recyclers" long before the trashman gets to it.
I even used to make the rounds of several computer stores every couple-three days for some very productive "dumpster diving". I'd pick up '486 and low-end Pentium systems, and donate them to underpriviledged families. There was also a place that would buy used VGA monitors, so I could pick them up from a dumpster on one side of town, drive to the other side of town and re-sell them for bout $20.00 apiece. Quite a little racket, while it lasted. (Unfortunately, both of those computer stores disappeared after Gateway built a new "SuperStore"-type thinggy in our town).

Do you have some sperry univac stuff ?
for example parts of UTS serie terminal ?
In fact i search actually a vintage terminal like Sperry Univac UTS40 or Digital VT100 or Tectronix 4010.
What's exactly still available in your collection about vintage terminal or terminal-computer from 70' and with rs-232 ?

 There's a whole load of stuff in there...
I wish I lived next door to that place, in a big house with LOTS of storage space. I'd take about half of it! :D
Are there any Mac SE 30en or just plain Mac SEen?
If no, how much would it cost to ship an original Macintosh to Australia?
My postcode is 2040, if that helps.
Really want one of them ol' Macs!

EDIT: I'm also looking out for any dumb terminals (preferably small ones) and this (temporarily forgot its name) http://webpages.charter.net/shent449/comphell/PDRM0094.JPG looks quite cool also. More info on the thing in the Sony suit would also be welcomed.

The thing in the piture is (part of) an old (late '70s) color graphics terminal. This is just the VDU portion, the keyboard for it is MIA.

There are plenty of Macs there, in assorted flavors. I'll try and get a weight on one and figger shipping for ya.
