I don't know if someone else has noticed it, but on every reply message I post since a few days ago, I get a long delay and an error about SMTP timeout. I have no settings to send out e-mail, and it appears to every thread, so it must be a module that always is live, but for some reason it doesn't work.
Has anyone else noticed this? It is a bit frustrating.

I noticed this too, and I was thinking it was my system's dial up connection. I have a long phone cord :( Let's see if it'll do it this time. 'Glad it isn't just me.
/EDIT It seems to be working again for my first post from here. It might be fixed.

Per my provider:
I'm very sorry for the inconvenience for this we have been having periodic DDOS attacks on our servers. This is most likely the cause of this intermittent error.
It should be working just fine now
Sorry. :(

I should have known. I have have in just the few days my server has been running, 7 or 8 attempted Front Page exploit attempts. (You don't have to have it installed for that to work, its a .dll file) and at least 2 people try to upload their blog to my server. (?) Which makes no sence since my Server has nothing even remotly close to anykind of blog software. I think people just scan for machines running IIS or Apache to target. These 13 year old kids who think their tough "attacking" webservers need to find a new hobby. Wow you attacked a webserver, thats right up there with thinking your a badass for jaywalking....... So far I have filed complaints with 2 ISP's for people making repeated attempts at breeching securtity. Which hasint happend yet.... At any rate, its good to have the forum running smoothly again!

I'm still getting the same error at home, but never at school. It may be since I'm on a dial-up, but I don't know for sure...
Also, in the threads that I have posted in, I am not receiving as many emails for new messages. I like this feature. In the SHowing off at school thread it has stopped altogether, is this related to the new upgrades? Also the Should I pass on this old atari 800 thread, it's also stopped sending notificcation messages.

If the SMTP module isn't responding due to DOS attack overflow, you won't receive any messages from the forum. It seems this module is called for every message posted, regardless whether an email is to be sent out or not.
