I am looking for a 486 VLB motherboard (NO dual VLB/PCI) that can take a 486 dx/2 66 or better (3.3V capable for 100Mhz and above processors) and 256K cache onboard (4 72 Pin SIMM slots would be nice).
Located in Ohio/USA, willing to pay shipping if you have something close that is going to get recycled.

I have a 486 motherboard lying around that's collecting dust, But I don't quite understand what you mean by VLB. I think it would take a 486DX/2, because I'm pretty sure that that's what I found it with. Unfortunately, that processor was snapped =(. It's free for the board, but shipping could be hefty as I live on the other side of the world; Sydney, NSW, Australia. 2040 is the postcode. I'm giving this board as-is, because I have no way of testing it (I'm far too frightened of breaking the proc in my other 486-box; no ZIF socket).
I know for sure the BIOS is good. However, it's AMBIOS, so is not highly customisable.
It has a nice ZIF socket and some (what looks to be) on-board RAM.
No on-board HD controller.
Mid-post, I've just realised it's got 3 EISA slots.
It also has one 8-bit ISA slot and three 16-bit ones.
It takes a standard power supply, the 12-pin variety.
It also looks as if you can overclock slower processors via jumper settings, but I have no idea if that'll work, as I can't test it.
It has an odd processor-selection jumper setting table on the board that looks like this=
+-----+--------+-----+
| U19 | . JP13 . | JP14 |
+-----+--------+-----+
| DX . |1-2,3-4 | 1-2 |
+-----+--------+------+
| P23 | 2-3 . . .|. OFF .|
+-----+--------+------+
|P23N |1-2, 3-4 | 3-4 |
+-----+--------+------+
(Excuse terrible ASCII art; I'm used to monospace)
I have no idea what a P23 is, but it's not a pentium.
That's all I can think of now; write back for any other specifics.

VLB stands for Vesa Local Bus and is not the same as EISA. While they both use a 32-bit bus, they're not compatible :) I believe your 486 board has 3 VLB slots but then again I could be wrong. You can easily identify VLB slots as they are very long - about the size of a 16-bit ISA slot and a PCI slot combined :)

I have an IPEX VL486 (overdrive ready) there are 8 x 30 pin ram slots, 4 ISA slots and 2 VLB ISA slots. There are no IDE or floppy connectors onboard, All cache sockets are full.
The model number is IPX-UM-486IV6201. It has a CPU with it, the CPU is an intel overdrive, DX40DPR100 SZ959 V1.1.
I am asking $40 Australian plus postage.
I also have an SiS MS4144 M/B with 3 x PCI, 4 x ISA, 4 x 72 pin ram slots, 256K cache and same CPU as above. This board has IDE, Floppy, Com and Printer sockets onboard.
I am asking $40 Australian plus postage.
Regards Brett.

I was looking for something in the USA, cheaper shipping and I didn't want to put much money into the project.

I have a very stable 486 MB with 3vl slots, documentation, 120mhz cpu and 256k static ram. I kept it because is was so stable. It was removed from service probably in 2000. It probably needs a new clock chip/battery now. If you still want it, let me know. It uses either 4 30 pin or 2 72 pin memory, and I probably have some of that somewhere also. I'm in Texas, it will probably cost about $8.10 to ship to you via the mail. I was going to recycle it, just let me know if you want it. You can email me at cmulcihy at earth link dot net.
