Well, I've decided to part with my SOL 20.

Here's the ebay link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8769017101

Bummer that you're selling it, but I'll bet it goes BIN sometime soon.

That's a very nice example! :)

D00d,

You must be really pressed for space. Your new apartment is smaller than I'd thought...

Hi guys,

Erik, okay, I'm stoopid...What's BIN?

Terry, Yea, the new place is significantly smaller, but I've been doing a LOT of soul searching about what I'm really interested in as far as the older computers and it comes down to:
1. Ozzies
2. Kyocera line of slabtops (KC-85, NEC PC-8201, Tandy/RS 100/102/200)
3. TI's CC-40 and subsequent iterations
4. The Epson PX/HX series
5. Some pocket computers/early pda's. This group is subject to refinement.

It comes down to "You can't save them all."

I've noticed there's stages a person goes through when collecting computers.
1. Hording - Grab anything and everything that's old (insert personal definition of old here). Even get multiple copies for parts.
2. Completing - Try to complete "sets." Such as add documentation, original boxes, peripherals, variations (see the Epson PX/HX/HC series on that one!)
3. Refining - Narrow focus to specific targets.

Guess I'm finally moving on to stage 3.

If y'all check out my website, you'll notice I've got a column of stuff for sale/trade. The SOL is probably the biggest/rarest thing I'll be selling.

BIN = Buy It Now. As far as I'm concerned $1.5K for a well maintained working and complete set like that is a fair deal.

Someone somewhere is going to realize that soon.

If I didn't already have a really nice SOL setup (not quite as nice, but close) I'd be all over it like white on rice.

Best of luck with the sale and the new focus!

Heh! I go thru all three stages on a regular basis...

Well, the Buy It Now option went away when they met my reserve price of $500.

Maybe I should've set that at $750. Oh well, hind sight is always 20/20.

Nah, you'll get a nice price anyways.

Sometimes a reserve can scare off people. On one hand, you want your investment back, on the other hand you want it to sell.

It is a very nice Sol, it will sell, maybe for close to the BIN price if not more. Most auctions these days get snipped at the last minute. You might not know how it is going to do until the last minute.

I know what you mean about a BIN scaring people off. Ditto a reserve.

Fact is, this is the first time I've used both options. Normally, I just post the auction and let the fun begin. This, however, is quite a bit different from a lot of my auctions. This little beauty deserves to be treated with respect.

Well, it sold for $1106. Would've liked to gotten a little more, but I'm not going to complain as long as it's going to a good home.

Curtis

p.s. Terry, you got one heck of a good deal on the IBM PCRadio! The AC adapter cost me more than I got on the auction. Guess things balance out tho.

Yeah, I know a steal when I see one, but if not me, someone else would've raped ya just as badly. At least now you know that it's coming to a good home.

In the Navy, we would say something rather graphic and crude, but I'll keep it G rated here! : )

Now if the bozo who bought the SOL would just contact me!
