I just got my Compaq II today. I started it up, and found that several of the keys on the keyboard were not working. Either they were working intermittently, or not at all. Any specific ways of cleaning the keyboard?

Hello, don't know if this is relevant, but i have a compaq III keyboard (sadly all that is left of the machine (I gave too much stuff away!!) but I'm in the uk, so judging by the fact that it's cost about $35 to ship a keyboard from the US to here by slow post (thanks Terry!) probably looking at similar to go the other way (although knowing the UK postal service, it could be anything!)
You're welcome to it.
Alternatively, as it's probably a dual membrane type. The keyboard guys where I used to work (when it was worth fixing keyboards) just used to seperate the membranes and carefully wipe over with aqueous foam cleaner, and cotton wool buds (they also used to pull the keycaps, and put them in a mesh bag in the washing machine, but make sure that you know where to put them back! (photo)) sometimes if the silver loaded ink had worn off, they used to touch-up with the silver paint that's used for repairing (car) heated rear-windows.
Hope that this is of use,
Nig
