I'm looking for a boot disk on 5.25" floppy for DOS. I have no idea which version would be best. It would have to run on a 286 and 640kb ram. I dont even know what form of drive it is as I cant access the bios without a disk (???) CP/M might be good too, never used it before
Any help would be great :)

Any ol' version of DOS should work on any IBM-compat, but you may need to find a setup disk designed for that machine (sometimes, 'generic' setup programs , such as 'GSETUP.EXE' will do the job, tho).

Unfortunately I don't have a 5.25" floppy drive, and can't install one without buying a new PC case. I have found a boot disk lying about for DOS 3.10 (I think) but it isnt a clean one, it tries to do all sorts and fails because contrary to the eBay listing, it doesn't have a functioning hdd. However, it boots finally but doesn't have the essentials like Edit etc. Also it's not a full version of DOS.
On another note, I realise that if I want to use this to its maximum potential, i'm going to have to get a floppy drive for my PC. That also entails getting a new case. Sigh.
