I picked up this CNN article from a blog. It is about fertility treatment. A 63 year old woman in the UK is about to give birth after having fertility treatment by an Italian doctor:

http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/europe/05/04/britain.mother.reut/index.html

A lot of things could be said, but just like the blogger pointed out, what strikes me most is this statement by the doctor:

"she is very slim, blonde and in perfect condition, she fits all the criteria for maternity."

Perhaps it is a mistranslation from Italian, or the doctor has some odd criteria for maternity. I would say being less than 40 years old should also be among the most important criteria, unless there are scientific ways to eliminate the elevated risks of older women going into motherhood.

I think it was a 50'ties movie star who once said "men prefer blondes, but marry brunettes"? If the Italian doctor has proof for his viewpoints, many men may have chosen the wrong women, biologically/evolutionary speaking. :p

Italians in general loose their capability to think the moment they spot a blonde woman (natural or not)...

It's an interesting prospect that a blonde should be giving
birth at the age of 63, is this something of a first born for
this lady?

So blondes generally live longer or something - is there some
tally which shows the average age or someone with certain
colour hair - or is this person simply faking it (you know
gone grey at 40 & has dyied their hair ever since).

And what about the issue of their smarts - or is that a loaded
bull which has passed down into many jokes about Blondes.

Hard to say if Blonde is the colour Gentlemen prefer - maybe
on a grand scale, though some men prefer Red heads, brunettes,
black, or even Grey if they so desire it.

The CNN article mentions a 26 year old daughter and a 22 year old son of hers. It doesn't say if her current (61 year old) husband has any previous children, but they don't seem to have any combined children yet. So, she was rather late to have her first child as well. With some help of fertility treatment and young pregnancies, it will be possible to have a child of your own the same age as your great grandchild; i.e. if three generations in a row have a child at 20 and the great grandmother has another child at 60. Just imagine going to the same school:

-"It is a nice school, my grandmother's brother used to go here."
-"Eeh.. the school has only existed for 10 years."
-"Yes, he graduated last year."

or even better, your grandmother's brother could be younger than you.
