I am starting a mini collection of Toshiba laptops because they are great PCs and very reliable. I have some satellites and some satellites pros but I am very confused as to when they started being sold in the US. Does anyone know where I could find info on the history of the toshiba laptop in general. Is the 405CS really "newer" than the 205CDT?

Toshiba's first laptop in the U.S. (not sure about overseas) was the T1100 from 1985/1986 (that's also a bit confusing.) A later model was the T1000, from 1987 even though it's a lower model number. Anyway, the 1100 is noteworthy because it seems to be first portable which was actually advertised as a "laptop" computer. The term "laptop" itself began in approx. late 1983/early 1984 however by magazines like Byte, etc., and of course laptops by other names hit the market as early as 1982.
