we have a home-run around-the-corner cyber-cafe and oft late we have become increasingly frustrated with virus/worm/spyware infections affecting user experience. but it is a big pain to run maintenance tasks regularly. any suggestions?

Any reason you can't run linux? I would dread maintaing a large number of Windows computers with public access. I imagine that you have individual computers, and not just network appliances with a central server. If you are interested in using linux for things such as simple web-browsing, office programs, and instant messaging, most distros will work for you, but I find ubuntu to be the easiest.

Yep, if you have to use Windows for the PCs, there is a bunch of security stuff you can do. The "normal user" for the PC should not have admin rights and Internet Explorer has tons of options where you can turn off Active-X. When I did work for the school district, they had a product that restored the default configuration every time the user logged out. Too bad I can't remember the name of the product, it worked well.

SoftICE or WinICE sound familiar? I can't remember the exact name either, but i know it had something to do with 'ICE'.

Nevermind, it intergrates with Novell and Zenworks, now that I think about it. Likely useless even if I could remember the name.
