I work for a small non-profit called CATNeT (Coalition for Access to Technology & NeTworking.) We provide free hardware, tech support, & volunteer instructors to local non-profits so they can set up computer centers for their clients to use. CATNeT serves the NW Ohio/SE Michigan area with 45 centers, servicing: seniors - at-risk youth - homeless - low-income families - the disabled - and others.
We are holding the first annual Technological Wonders Fair next month (11/19). This one-day fair will feature 40 exhibitors (both non-profits and local IT companies), speakers, and some fun activities- a cyber fashion show, games, music, prizes, and (here's my point:) a museum of "dead" tech, illustrating the evolution of computers as we know them today.
I have collected a few items, but I need to find some more. Does anyone have an item or collection they would be willing to loan or donate? Hardware doesn't have to function, although that would be ideal, of course. If you are loaning working hardware, we can make the dispay "hands-off," if you would prefer. We have no budget to speak of, so this will be a real challenge- shipping heavy items, travelling long distances to pick up items, and buying things outright are not possible. Any loans, or leads to other loans would be mightily appreciated! Frankly, I am not very tech-savvy, I am not a "computer hobbyist," so I'm not even sure where I might be able to dig up anything.
If you'd like to attend the fair, you are welcome, of course! Booth prices are quite fair, if you'd like to exhibit; and admission for the public is FREE.
