What MacOS versions will run on a 128K? I tried System 6, didn't work, but the disk might be bad.
And yes, I found a Macintosh 128K on a pallet today. It's in very good condition. I had a mouse, just need a stupid RJ11 keyboard!

I thought you could run OS6 on it, but there may be memory issues at 128K. It will be slow, but that's true of the machine anyway.
I know I've run OS6 on 512 and 1MB versions.

Well, when I insert the disk, I get the Happy Mac for about a second and then it spits it out. Might be an 800K diskette or just bad. I haven't had the opportunity to test it in another Mac yet.

Aren't all MacOS versions 7 & below public domain? If so, couldn't you just write new diskettes?

It does sound like a problem with the disk, not the machine. Apple's website should have the info & software ya need. Ya might also try:

That's interesting, do you have a source or do you know this from experience?

I belive mac 128k's have 400kb disks (as opposed to 800k), that might be your problem.

Yep, the Lisa 2, 128k, and 512k all have the single sided, 400k disk drives. The 512k ED and the Plus have double sided, 800k drives.
