Hello everybody,so i have an macintosh classic, and a 5.25" external floppy extension,i hook them up,the light comes on for afew seconds when the computers loading. But afterwards when its all set to go,i put in a floppy and nothing happens. My three inch extension works fine on it though it just doesnt seem to like the five inch for some reason.Im running system 6 on my classic.Any ideas?

I also have an apple IIsi witch ive been trying with the 5.25" floppy drive, when it loads all it says is "disk initialization failed because the disk is locked" over and over even when theres no disk in the drive  .Im running system 7 on my IIsi.

Are these Apple 5.25 drives for Apple II or are Apple 5.25 drives for IBM?

If they are for the Apple II, then you might need a IIE card. But these were only for the LC series. But I could be wrong. I do not remember and Mac software on 5.25s.

If these a for IBM than you might need some driver or extension to make them read /write.

To be quite honest i couldnt tell you for sure whether theyre for IBM or for apple II,I picked them up at a garage sale seprately.I tried looking at the manufacture stickers but no real hints to say for sure.
Im pretty new when it comes to macintosh's and their operating systems these are pretty much the first ive ever owned.
Ill try looking into some of those cards you mentioned.

If post the Apple's model number, and name on the bottom of the drive or look it up on google it should tell you more about the drives.
