For my AS/400 9402 F02 I am looking for the installation tape with OS/400
V2R2 or similar. The current installation asks for an unknown
username/password. I am not interested in any data currently on the system,
but just wat a working AS/400. The tapedrive is a QIC-1000, so any tape of
that capacity or smaller will probably do.

The current version of OS/400 is Version 5, but that probably won't work on
this machine (which is about 8-10 years old).

Fred,

Current OS/400 version is V5R3. For your F02 you can run V3R2 - that's the last release supported on that flavor of the hardware.

V3R2 might actually be usable - it has a reasonable TCP/IP stack. V2R2 would be scary - that's from over 12 years ago.

Sorry for the late reply. I've been busy playing with the machine. The
version currently installed is V3R1 (I didn't know before I could log in, a
label on the outside had V2R2 printed on it).
The current installation is working, but quite spartan. No real programming
environment, not even the standard editor SEU. But I learned already how
to turn it off: PWRDWNSYS and then log off :-).
