I digged out an old Osborrne 1 I hadn't seen in ages and inspected it. The keyboard never was working perfectly.

Two pins on the connector on the circuit board have broken. One has snapped off and is stuck on the end of the lead, the other is pushed further into the plastic bit.

So what I was thinking of doing (with my limited soldering experience) is to solder a new lead straight onto the circuit board, the other end going straight into the keyboard and hooking that up to the matrix. Before I do though, what are your thoughts?

I would just fix the pins on the circuit board so the system is set up as normal.

If I understand what you are suggesting you'd be effectively soldering the keyboard cable to the board which wouldn't be as flexible.

Aye,
but the connector is broke - you mean to fix it? My initial thought was to get a new connector and solder it on. I'm looking at it right now thô, seeing that the soldering is much more accessible than the broken pins.

Feeling quite dizzy and tired thô so I'll leave it for the morning.
