I'm interested in buying 1993 or earlier Computer shopper magazines.
I can pay cash and do have some earlier hardware to trade with.
You can reach me at intechnicolor@att.net or 848-448-7447. Let me know what you have. I'm in the NYC metro area.

I have a few years worth in the garage but it's too cold (and messy) for a few months. They're the older version, newspaper-style, bigger pages and fewer of them than nowadays. (Probably nearer to 1985± a few years)

That's funny that cause I used to see these mags
all the time (when collecting my Amstrad Action &
on a couple of occasions they had the ad in them!).
I just thought it was a magazine which listed goods
for sale in & nothing else, so I never got one! :-(

They used to have articles in them didnt they? I had a huge stack and dumped them maybe a year ago. They just take up too much space and are heavy. Mine were probably from early 1990's when the suckers were big.

Yes, they were largely ads, and during certain years, many issues hit almost 1000 pages. Funny how the arrival of the internet pretty much destroyed their advertising business, the magazine was owned by Ziff Davis publishing. I love to read the old articles and ads, about "screaming fast" 486 systems. I get a real laugh, when pieces of memory I bought last month (64mb 72 pin) for $7 a stick, are $1500 a stick in issues from 1995. Hard drives I bought on ebay this year on ebay for $3 each (slow 9 gig scsis) were selling for $3600 in 1993.

I have a bunch (couple dozen) of pc magazines from the late 80's to 93 I keep around for the articles and for the old advertisements.

I used to buy them just for the listings of BBS's they ran each month. They were also a good value, as they only cost a couple of buck$, and you got a whole lotta bang for those buck$.

I used to run BBS in New York and San Antonio.
I can't remember what I called the NY board but I know I used RBBS-PC and when I left the state I turned it over to the Long Island PC Users Group as their board.
When I got to Texas I switched to WWIV and ran the Gangster of Boats BBS for several years before leaving for CA.
One of these days I'll have to rebuild a machine that can read the backups from those boards (I think I still have at least two sets from the WWIV board) and see what I can remember. . .
