View Full Version : A decent visual

I have just finished repairing two Tandon TM100 diskette drives that I bought as 'untested'.

My first pass visual didn't spot any problems, but my detailed second pass did.
The drives had been mishandled (not damaged during shipping).
In one case a cap had one of its leads broken (causing spindle to run at incorrect speed).
In the other case a transistor had a lead broken (couldn't read past track 0).

It just reinforces that a decent visual can sometimes save hours of work.
