I'm on the lookout for a copy of SunOS 4.x to resurrect an old Sparc IPC (no, I don't want to run Linux, I've got enough flavours of that running on other boxes :) ).

Also looking for anything related to Xerox D-machines - hardware (6085, 1186, 1101, 8010), software (InterLISP-D, ViewPoint, Smalltalk, GlobalView - X or Windows versions), manuals (Mesa etc).

Always interested to hear from fellow Xerox fans.

If you can't get a copy of Sun OS 4.x, have you given any thought to running NetBSD?

I'll check with a friend of mine at work to see if he can find a copy of Sun OS 4.x.

Also OpenBSD might work well and has Apache already integrated. Certainly NetBSD runs great on the IPC at least w/o X.

SunOS 4.1 is relatively slow and not Y2K compliant if I recall correctly, and does not have DHCP support built-in.

I should add Linux is very slow on the IPC also.

I've got a copy of 4.1.4 now ... yup, it's not Y2K compliant - using 'date' does horrible things to the nvram and stops the machine booting. But other than that things are cool
