All you "bumpers" out there -- be aware that at some time in the recent past, the forum Default display time period got changed to ONE DAY!! So now, when you open one, you only see all the posts from the LAST 24 HOURS.

Nooooo - your post are not getting deleted!

Nooooo - they are not "disappearing", never to be seen again!

It's simply the forum defaults have been (accidently?) changed recently.

Thank you, thank you, no applause necessary.

More to the point, you can change that setting here:

User CP -> Edit Options -> Thread Display Options -> Default Thread Age Cut Off

Problem is that just about everyone has it set to "use default" in their User CP. So, we all get the now beloved 1 day default.

First off, Thank you Chuckcmagee!

If I or another moderator deletes a post you are usually banned right after because you were a spammer or you will be contacted via PM and told why it was deleted. So if you can still login and move about and did not receive a PM, nothing was deleted. Also this bumping thing needs to stop before it gets out of hand. I only did it once to make sure there wasn't a more serious problem with the forum software. Just change your defaults in your user control panel.

Thanks,

The last time I did anything significant to the boards (aside from renaming a few forums to, hopefully, attract fewer misguided types) was in January when I upgraded to the latest version of the software.

Has anything else been acting wierd?

I just looked and couldn't find an option for that default. I'll look again when I'm more awake.

Meanwhile, there is a menu at the bottom of the screen when you are looking at a list of threads. One of the options allows you to set the depth (age) of messages shown. It's reading one day now, of course, but you can up that.

Actually, I have observed that sometimes a page loads twice, like it is redirected from one URL to another. Since I myself work with webpages, I have the option enabled to report all script errors. Sometimes I get a few dozen script errors of the kind "xxx is not defined" upon loading a VC page, typically in combination with the forced redirection as mentioned above.

But it only happens sporadically, no pattern and I doubt I could even reproduce it by reloading the same page. These odd behaviours have taken place only recently.

Perhaps this whole thread should be moved into the area which deals with the forum specifically?

I've never encountered a script error. *shrugs* So far with vB all I've ever gotten is a rude error message (hehe)
