replacement battery for a notebook

Hi;

I have a 386 sx 20 notebook computer, and it's rechargeable battery has died.

It's a 2.5 amps/hr nickel-cadmium battery, the large 8" x 2" ones.

I have the manual for the computer.
it says it's power rating is 15 volts direct current, at 1.5 amps.
it's charge circuit max is 12 volts direct current at 0.75 amps, if this helps/

Does anyone know of suppliers of older rechargeable batteries?

You could go and buy one new from battery sellers all over the internet but you'll probably pay wayt too much for getting a 386 running (most of them have charge times of several hours for 1 or 2 hours of operation). What I did when I had th need was go to eBay and buy several untested batteries for not much more than shipping and hope I got a winner. Just what I did. Hope this helps.

Thanks Nathan, I will take a look and see what I can find.

I don't mind shelling out some coin to get the notebook to become fully portable again.

A2Z Solutions at www.a2zsolutions.com has a lot of very old laptop batteries. They're cheaper than most and their batteries are usually higher capacity than the originals. I've bought batteries for a couple of old 386 laptops and a 486 laptop from them.
