8-inch floppy drive

Has anyone got an 8-inch floppy drive to work (read and write) with a PC (IBM or compatibles)?
If yes, what is required and how to get it to work?

Dave's method has worked for me. Many 8" disks have at least one SD sector. Your floppy controller may not be able to read and or write that data.
