Mac to VGA

Ok, I have another one.

I have a Mac PowerPc 6100/66 and, of course, it's the only one with a CD-ROM, and, of course, the diagnostics I need to test the other Macs are on a CD.

So, what do I need to connect this damn computer to a regular (non-apple) VGA/SVGA monitor, who has it and how much is it going to cost me?

There's dongles that can do it. Also, I'm sure you can find schematics to build one too...

Yes, I know and someone is sending me a HDI-45 to VGA adapter (thank you very much), so that's taken care of.

Well, the HDI to VGA adaptor that I was waiting on never materialized (damn transporters :) ), so, I'm still in the market for one of these if anyone has one.

The built in video on the 6100 kind of sucks, plus you need that special cable. I recommend you get the PDS angle bracket and a PDS video card, should be easy enough to find on ebay and you can have 1,2 or 4MB of video RAM for a large desktop. The PDS cards have the old 15 pin connector and VGA adapters for that are easy to come by.

Yeah, I thought of that too, and I even moved a Radius Graphics Accelerator over into the 6100 from one of the Quatras (I believe), but, it wouldn't work right, for some reason.

Found out that the reason the Radius was in the machine in the first place was because the on-board video had a known video malady which I forget the name of.

However, someone above says they have a HDI-45 adaptor and, maybe, I'll actually get it this time :)

I think what I was originally looking for has been lost back in the begining of this thread.

The adapter I'm looking for is a HDI-45 to VGA. This thing comes in two flavours; HDI-45 to Mac VGA (DB-15, 2 rows of pins) and HDI-45 to PC VGA (DB-15, 3 rows of pins).

Either version will do as I have a Mac VGA to PC VGA adapter.

I just wanted to clarify that.

yeah that weird connector Apple used on a few computers was annoying. I normally parted out those machines to fix the ones with the normal 15 pin connector. They never had the monitor when I found one. I'm glad Apple went back to the 15 pin connector.

Well, I managed to pick one up on the 'net (along with 3 3-foot keyboard cables, since I received 7 Macs and 7 keyboards, but only one keyboard cable with them) for the grand total of 15 bucks US including shipping.

It's on it's way as of last Friday.

I can't sell it if I can't show it working, just a atrange little anti-ebay quirk I have :)

Yep "works great" -- that's why all my pictures show it like a dead fish on a slab

I have one of the two row 15 pin cables, male both ends. If you have the adapter, this should work.

Thanks, but, the adapter I needed has a 45 pin "thing" on one end and a two row DB-15 on the other.

One is on its way to me now, and I'll take a picture of it when it gets here, but, thank you for your kind offer of the cable.

Ok, I'm making good on the things I said I'm post pictures of, so, here's the HDI-45 adapter.

The adapter (left), in the black area, has 30 some-odd female connectors and the other end (represented here by a Mac DB-15 to a VGA DB-15 adapter) is actually a female.
