our school has a piece of computer equipment that say it can be hooked to any rgb color monitor and it has an old style 9 pin connector on the back they want to hook it to a modern lcd projector with rca,usb, ssomthing markeds ds?-232 or 323 (which is 9 pin as well) and a modern vga inputs is there any way to hook these two things together?

The projector probably has a RS-232 serial port for control of some sort. I doubt it operates as a serial terminal. :-) The old computer equipment may have some RGB/EGA signal. If you know exactly what piece of equipment it is, both you and us will have better chances to help you. From what we know right now, you may need some custom converter circuit if you're going from e.g. EGA to VGA.

What is it exactly? Manufacturer, model and anything else that would help identify it would help.
