Erik,
Just a suggestion, I was just wonderning if it would help having a
section for the moment for other systems you don't cover? That
way you could go into other vintage computer groups & let them
know they have a section to post their messages in?
Anyway, it's just an idea.
Cheers.

I'll add a section for "Other" right now.
I can add sections for any machine or family of machines folks want to have focused discussions about.
Just ask! :)

Well it was just idea of perhaps tying to get people from other vintage computer groups discussing in there first & when a certain machine looks capable of having it's own seperate group, perhaps adding it then.
You could setup an Amstrad group for me, but I might only be the only
one posting in there! ;-)

I'd like to see a section dedicated to Kaypro computers.

Did you want a section specifically for Kapro (the portables, the Robbie and later DOS based laptops and desktops) or were you more interested in CP/M portables (including Osborne, Zorba et. al?)

Yes, there are quite a few different Kaypro around. There
seems to be this mad rush to include all these computers,
however that's why I had the 'Other' section made, so that
anyone could post their discussions there, so whenever a
group of people came along, the proper sections could be
made for that machine.
It just saves creating more groups & really defeats the
purpose of having an 'other' section.
However, it's Erik's site, so whatever he does with it is
up to him.
Cheers.

I'm mostly interested in the Kaypro CP/M machines but I wouldn't mind more info on the Kaypro 16 or the 2000 laptop, either.

I thought this was the "Vintage Computer Forum". Doesn't that mean all the older computers or am I missing something here?

All of the Kaypro's I know of are pretty old now. I suppose the
main concern about machines is, how old is old enough to
be classed as a vintage machine? It may also depend of the
class of the machine. If it's an 8bit/16bit/32bit machine.
Cheers.

Certainly.
I want this site to support discussions on any and all computers, operating systems, programming languages or other technologies that are considered to be obsolete today.
I think the question really becomes: How granular do we make the individual boards? I could add a board for every machine listed in http://www.vintage-computer.com/vcforum/viewtopic.php?t=71 but most of the discussion areas would be pretty sparsely used.
I think CP/M Users point is valid. Let discussions not already covered fall into the "other systems" area until a large enough subset of the community is contributing to make a separate area worthwhile.
That isn't to say that I won't add new sections now (and the Kaypro idea sounds like a good one, although maybe more generalized), but there are some areas that are already lightly used, so maybe we wait and see where interests take us.

I think it would be great if we could get some Kaypro
users in here. Unfortunately, quite a few of them are
still tied up in the comp.os.cpm group. But I would
assume that the Kaypro is more than just CP/M
itself, so there are perhaps times where it could
do with another group! :-)
Cheers.
