Friday Night Liquor

So I decided to try something new. One of my boss's is leaving us next week and told us he'd invite us over for some manhattans. being a... "liquor enthusiast" I shamefully admitted I had never had one. Fast forward 8 hours. I picked up some Seagrams V.O. & Martin & Rossi Sweet Vermouth (wtf is vermouth anyway?!) and some cherries (this was my boss's reciepe) 2 parts whiskey to 1 part vermouth w/ a cherry per. Rather strong drink! I kinda liked it! although its a smidge too sweet or something. Think I'll stick to my BV & Coke Zero

Vermouth according to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vermouth), if you were really curious. Last week I had a small glass of grappa mixed with water (it doesn't get so strong that way) and added a few drops of blueberry-raspberry juice. It went very well together, the distinct taste of distilled grapes with the juice. I must try it again.
