Hi Guys !
I didn't think I was a 'collector', but searching through the attic the other day discovered that I had two ancient machines neatly packed away .
First an ITT 2020 complete with handbook and some cassette tapes, and a Compaq portable II looking very good but unfortunately without a sign of any 5.25inch discs.
Since I am now 80 and rapidly approaching the time when climbing into the attic will not be a possibility - I thought that it might be a good idea to join this forum and enquire whether anyone would like to give either/both of these machines a good home. - No money required.
Failing any positive reponse from you guys they will go to the local dump.
It's necessary for you all to know that I live in Northampton England UK, so that may well limit the possibility of the machines being fostered.
What an interesting forum this is - and doesn't it bring back memories as you members mention paper-tape , punch cards, plug boards etc. etc. I started in computers pretty late in life at the age of 33 in 1960 when I joined an analogue computer laboratory which had 1000 multipliers doing government research. Five years later I transferred to the digital side of things and got stuck into the task of learning loads of languages :- Fortran,Algol,Cobol,Plan,TABN, etc. It's never been a dull moment since. !!
Thanks for reading my ramblings.
