Couple days ago, my baby sister came into my room, and gave me a flower (she likes giving stuff). I let her put it on my desk, and she put it right on top of my IBM PS/2 Model 25, where it stayed, covering the IBM logo.
Well, the flower had died, and it looked pretty bad. Thing is, my sister is the remembering type. She will ask me where the flower went.
What do I tell her? I don't think she's learned the concept of "dead" yet...

Or she will one day go to Kindergarten and tell the kids that her big brother's computer needs to be fed, or otherwise it might chew off one of your fingers. FEED ME! Perhaps it could be the basis for a rework of Little Shop of (Vintage Computer) Horrors.

I was always asking questions when I was small, and my in sticky situations my parents would revert to magic.
"Mummy, how did the baby get out of your tummy?"
"Magic"
"Dad, how does the microwave work?"
"Magic"
etc.
It kept me quiet for a few years.

Show her the dead flower and explain it to her, even if she doesn't understand, at least you didn't tell her some BS.
