I'm the happy winner of an Ebay auction for a very clean Osborne Vixen. I also have a Tandy 102 notebook and a few Tandy PC-2 pocket computers.

I'm currently looking for the First Osborne Group disk library. If anyone knows where they are online or has them available, I'd sure like a local copy on my hard drive (on my Linux box)!

I'm also forever on the lookout for a Tandy PC-2 plotter that does not have split gears. If anyone has such or knows how to fix the ones I have, please let me know!

Happy Trails!
Scott

Welcome to the VC Forums and congratulations on your new machine!

If you ever do find the Osborne disks please let me know. I have a few Osbornes lying around and I'd love to get more software for them.

Enjoy the forums!

Lemme dig thru my bookmarks, I'm sure I have them somewhere. Aren't they on the Walnut Creek CDROM? (There's also an archive of FOGhorn (the DeFOG newsletter) on-line somewhere, IIRC). BTW, the Detroit, MI chapter (DeFOG) was still active a couple of years ago, and they had the complete FOG library available (not on the net tho). Nowadays they call themselves the DEtroit Formerly Osborne Group.

Yes, There is a FOG/ directory on the CD:

http://www.retroarchive.org/cpm/cdrom/

There is another good CP/M archive here (mirror of the old oak.oakland.edu archive):

ftp://ftp.mayn.de/pub/

Lots of CP/M stuff. (IIRC they have an "Osborne" directory too). Most of what you'll find is for the O1, very few Vixen-specific files, but lots of generic CP/M stuff. BTW, do you even have bootdisks for your Vixen? If not, you can get them from Don Maslin: donm@crash.cts.com he's the keeper of the bootdisk archive.

I've found some of the FOG diskettes online (numbers 100-200). The earlier ones are the ones I'm after. So far they are very well hidden.

Thanks to all for the feedback!

TNX, but it appears I already have that one bookmarked (I just couldn't find it when I looked for it). BTW, I sent the DeFOG webmaster an email, to enquire about availability of FOG library. I'll get back to ya when I hear from them.

Reply from DeFOG:

HI Terry - yes the is the same group. I am trying to get in touch with one of our members that is out of town till May. If anyone has the diskettes at all he is our best guess. As soon as I get a message from him I will notify you.

Is this the Osborne group (DEtroit Formerly Osborne Group, aka First Osborne Group)? If so, do you still maintain a library of Osborne FOG diskettes, and how does one go about accessing the library?

Now if we could just find someone to host them online...

Should not be a problem. The folks who have the second hundred online should probably be quite happy to add the first if we can get them.

I have some Osborne 1 xomputers given to me by the man who bought them from me in the first place, when he retired. He was the local librarian and I have all of his disks and newsletters, etc. They are from about 1984 and earlier and must include the first 100l I will inventory them tomorrow and let you know what I've got, and we'll proceed from there.
Ray.
