Turns out the the vfloppy v1.4 mentioned at the above website works perfectly with a modern linux. I have Mandriva 2008.0 freshly installed and I compiled the source for vfloppy. The main program "epspd.c" needs 2 changes to get it to compile. Just before the end of the program, there is a "goto" command. Comment that out, change to a standard "break" and comment out the label a few lines down. Compiles and runs great after that.

You run "./vfrun.sh" to get the thing started. Comes with a D: E: F: and G: drives already configured with good stuff in them.

Of course you've sent Fred a compiled copy to post on his page, right?

Hmm, no. Source code is on some other site and hasn't been worked on for years. The original still compiles fine and works if you use a linux version of the same time, like Redhat 7.1 or 7.3. Those 2 minor code changes are just in case you don't want to hassle with getting an old RH up and running.

I finally got a PF-10 Utility Disk, for the drive that goes with my Epson Geneva (PX-8). I will make copies of the disk. PM me if interestred. I prefer that persons send me a SASE and a diskette. I will return the utility disk in the SASE.

Something died on the PCB. Motor runs all the time when power applied. I don't feel like trying to track down which chip died. It never worked very well from the day I got it. If I messed with it for a few hours, sometimes I could get it to work. I let it sit for 2 months and dead now. I'm tired of screwing with it, even tho it cost me an arm and a leg to get it.
