I have a lot of word processing files generated on a program called Prose from my DEC Pro 350. They are stored on 5 1/4" floppies. Does anyone know how to convert them to a Windows PC file like Word? My DEC Pro 350 does not work. All I have are the floppies themselves.

Thanks for your help.

Perhaps converting them to plain text might be an option? If you can read the floppy from a PC, you can always write a quick Perl, Python, Ruby (insert you favorite scripting language here) to remove things that aren't pure ASCII text. This could then be imported into Word, and you could reformat as you saw fit. At least you would have the text of the documents available.

The DEC Pro 3xx used an operating system called "POS" sometimes referred to as
"Piece of S--t" by some users. I don't know but possibly a MSDOS program such as Telemate might work. It also used a different format which IIRC was called Quad-density.

Your best bet would likely be to google for a DEC forum, being advised that they usually have a deep aversion for anything MS$.
