I have a Commodore SX-64 that I have been restoring and have repaired everything I can except that it has no sound. I am assuming it is the SID chip. If anyone has one available, it would be greatly appreciated.

18 pounds ?!
Damn, that sounds like a lot of money, is the sound chip in the sx-64 different from the one in a C64 ??

It should be the same 6581, possibly a different revision (6581R3, 6581R4 etc) but they work the same way. But SID chips in general are expensive to get loose, due to the demand sometimes is higher than the somewhat limited supply. If it wasn't for shipping costs, a whole C64 (working or partly broken) can often be had for less than a loose chip is sold for. On the other hand, far from all people have the skills and guts to pull a chip from a board without damaging it.
