That's kinda sad. I'm not sure I have any machines I'd want demoted to "prop".

Non-functional laptops sell on eBay for $0.99 every day. I wonder if the shipping costs on them is a factor? (They usually ship for around $15.99, too much for me to pay for a broken computer).
